    • Guide, photographer and host – Jess

    • Local professional guide and tracker – Obvious (yes, that’s his name!)

We believe that the retreat experience is based on ‘the whole being greater than the sum of the parts’ and creating a ‘village feel’ based on the African concept of ‘Ubuntu’.  As a participant you become a part of the village.  We become ‘one’.

There is a small, dedicated, hospitable and friendly team on the ground helping to create our supportive and magical experience:  guides, trackers, drivers, chefs, housekeepers, grounds staff, the local community all of whom contribute to the enjoyment, richness and overall transformational experience of the retreat.

    • Personal, medical, and trip cancellation insurance.

    • Travel visas (if needed).

    • You may need a visa.  It depends on what passport you are travelling on.

    • Please check with your local embassy or government website to see requirements for your country to enter South Africa.

    • To enter South Africa, the customs officials will check that your passport is valid for at least six months past the date of departure.

    • Your passport must have at least 2 blank pages (excluding the endorsement/amendment pages).

    • Yes.

    • Bringing phones and cameras is recommended to capture those special moments and to take pictures for back home.  And of course, you may want to have some contact with people at home.  However, we hope that contact with the ‘outside world’ can be kept to a minimum so that you can immerse yourself in the experience and get the most out of it.   Disconnecting, as much as possible, from the outside world/society for the 7 days will enhance your experience.

    • Each season brings different elements and conditions.  And each brings different benefits and attractions.

    • Sunrise and sunset game drives can be a bit nippy at any time of the year, but especially so in the winter months.

    • We will be providing you with detailed weather updates and information closer to the retreat date and will include relevant packing lists and other important information.

    • Yes of course.

    • Please be sure to state any allergies and intolerances you have, along with your dietary preferences.

    • We will be in touch to understand your dietary requirements.

    • We will collect you from either your hotel in Hoedspruit or the airport when you arrive.

    • For your return journey on departure day from Indlovu to Hoedspruit airport, we provide transportation from Indlovu to the airport at various times depending on your flight timing.

    • We will be collating travel itineraries closer to the time and send confirmations regarding collection times and other contact details.

    • Yes of course, and we encourage you to please request assistance and share your itinerary.

    • We can also suggest options for hotel bookings, transfers and other travel related questions.

    • Please note that your luggage allowance to Hoedspruit is 23kg (unless you upgrade that flight to business class).  You still get your carry-on allowance.

    • Laundry can be done for you at the lodge for a small charge with same day service.  This helps you to travel more lightly if you wish.

    • The cost of the retreat is inclusive of gratuities, meals and beverages, transfers, etc.  You will only need cash if you wish to pay for the laundry service and / or provide additional tips (local retreat staff and outing host).

    • You will be responsible for any extra hotel nights in Johannesburg and / or Hoedspruit and any associated expenses that you book outside of the retreat timeframe.

    • We highly recommend travel insurance (to include trip cancellation and medical coverage).

    • Inexpensive short-term policies for 7-10+ days are usually available.

    • Like anywhere else in the world, you must take reasonable precautions while travelling to avoid opportunistic crime.

    • We can provide tips and guidance on other places that you may wish to visit in South Africa both pre and post the retreat.

    • Our accommodation and environment at Indlovu is safe and secure.  For your added peace of mind, you will have an in-room safe to store your valuables.

    • When travelling it is recommended that you consult your travel clinic or doctor in your home country for any medical travel advice for South Africa that may be relevant to you.

    • Indlovu is currently a very low risk malaria area and some participants prefer to take a low malaria tablet while others are fine with not.

    • We will send a more detailed list of recommended items to pack at least one month prior to the start of the retreat.  You will be given a password to ‘login’ to the retreat site and you will be able to access all of the information that you need.

    • Note that we won’t have enough binoculars for everybody; however it is normal practice to share within a game vehicle.  If you do own your own pair it would be useful to bring them.

    • Please note that you can pay a small laundry charge for same day service.  This provides the opportunity to pack lightly (and perhaps provides the opportunity to travel lightly with only carry-on luggage).

Please contact us if you have any questions. We will get back to you promptly.

If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.
